My Cairo
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

I first came to Egypt as a fashion student. Later I revisited as Fashion Lecturer for The British University Cairo. I was invited to visit a cotton garment factory. To my surprise it was an eco-community just outside Cairoinan oasis specialising in certified organic cotton. I was seduced by the beauty of the cotton products that they produced and the beautiful environment that they worked in. This was the beginning of my journey working with Ancestral Egyptian Cotton. In order for cotton to be truly organic it must be prodcued using bio-organic farming methods meaning the manure to enrich the soil must be from cattle on the very same farm. The cotton comes from over 800 small holdings in Egypt each one subject to audit from the DNA of the seed to the use of pesticides and crop rotation.
